Wine is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious dinner before attending a Lyric Opera show in Chicago or after working in Chicago’s high rises. Here a few new ones we just added to our wine list!
Hahn Pinot Noir (Monterey county, CA ’14)
The grapes for this charming, fruit-forward wine grow primarily in the cool-climate Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County. This region sits on a gravelly alluvial plain at the foot of the Santa Lucia mountains. Cool winds from Monterey Bay ensure gradual ripening and ideal development of vibrant flavors. After harvest, this wine is aged in French oak (40% new, 60% neutral).
This Pinot Noir’s charismatic aromas include red cherry, ripe strawberry, cola and spice. Flavors of plum and black cherry are completed by a soft mouthfeel. Supple tannins and a bit of acidity end in a beautifully balanced and clean finish.
Caposaldo Pinot Grigio (Italy, ’15)
The Caposaldo Pinot Grigio features a dry, crisp, vibrant texture with medium body and delicate aromas of apples and other white fruit offset by acacia blossoms and almonds on the palate.
Pairs well with poultry and light pork, fish and seafood, pasta dishes including the classic basil pesto, and delicate cheeses.
Blend: 100% Pinot Grigio
