The weather is a bit warmer and St. Paddy’s day is around the corner. Spring is the perfect time to try new seasonal craft beers and we are pairing them with some of Lloyd’s favorite dishes. Join us by celebrating the season with 5 must try craft beer and food pairings for Spring 2018.

Spring craft beer food pairings at Lloyd’s Chicago

The Distinct Ales:

Collective Arts Dry Hop Sour
-This brew is juicy, sour, and refreshing. With hints of pine and fruit, it pairs great with shellfish, seafood, and stews. At Lloyd’s we recommend our Crab cakes. The succulent crabmeat with a hit of lemon is brightened when sipping on Collective Arts Dry Hop Sour.

Middle Brow “Robyn” Belgian Blonde Ale
-A fruity, honey upfront flavor, with a crispy spicy finish, this Blonde ale is sweeter and less bitter than a golden strong ale. Think creamy when pairing with food. Cheese, custards, pastas, and rich hearty dishes are best.

Lloyd’s suggests our Burger with Wisconsin Cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon. The ale cuts through the fat and maintains it flavors with heartier dishes.


3 Floyd’s Alpha King
-The flagship beer of 3 Floyds is bold, slightly sweet with aggressive citrus hoppiness. This beer can stand on its own but to enjoy it further try it with fried seafood. Fish & chips with malt vinegar draws out the caramel sweetness. It is a great way to celebrate the Spring season.

Traditional Brews:

Guinness Stout
-A St. Patrick’s day MUST-HAVE! Well, this creamy and malty iconic Irish beer must be enjoyed with Irish favorites like corned beef, bangers and mash, or fish and chips.

At Lloyd’s, we offer up the Classic Rueben which has homemade corned beef piled high with tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing.

Another favorite, Lloyd’s delivers is the Corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes. Either choice, this pair is highly sought out during St. Patrick’s day.


Half & Half (Stella Artois & Guinness)
-The perfect blend. Crisp and creamy all in one pint, what Spring craft beer & food pairing does Lloyd’s suggest? Well, choose spicy, rich & hearty, or even classic Irish dishes are all great food pairings.

At Lloyd’s, this dish exemplifies rich & hearty, Cognac Beef Stroganoff.   This dish has Merlot braised beef short rib, cremini, white button and portabello mushrooms, egg noodles, light cognac cream sauce.  A pint of Half & Half stands up well against the hearty and earthy flavors of Lloyd’s beef stroganoff.
